JESUS CHRIST'S SUPERSTAR: How NFL's A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver Fights Depression

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."(Romans 8:18)

A.J. Brown, one of the NFL's top wide receivers leans on Jesus Christ, prayer and reading the Holy Bible to fight his battles with depression.

Brown has been open about the fact that Jesus Christ helped him overcome depression, and constantly posts on social media giving advice on how to beat "the blues."

During a press conference at Super Bowl 2023 before his Philadelphia Eagles played against the Kansas City Chiefs, the superstar professional football player had this to say:

"I had plans and God had other plans. You know, I try not to lean on my own understanding. I read the Bible a lot you know because that's how I fight my problems. You know not trying to stand up here and be a perfect guy because I'm not. Nobody is. I just lean heavily on my faith and try to make it direct my paths."

When a reporter asked him if he had a favorite Bible verse, Brown replied "Romans 8:18."

One of his many social media posts about his faith states, “No better feeling when I put my armor of God on. Confidence come from the man the man above! I fear nothing - a.j. Brown"

On game days, he can be seen with his face painted with two large crosses underneath each eye.

Football and baseball players often use this type of "eye black" in the form of grease or stickers to limit glare and improve their vision.

Brown also usually wears a chain supporting a charm in the form of an Orthodox Christian cross

“I’m a Christian first, before anything,” Brown told the Tennessean near the end of his rookie season in 2019. “When I step out on the field, I want to say thank you for the blessing, for everything, because I don’t have to do this. I get to do this. So I always wear a cross.”

A.J. is one of the many professional athletes who have given Jesus the glory, honor and praise before answering reporter's questions after games, during interviews or via social media.

The sports world is often maligned because of its inglorious praise and public showing of support for Anti-Christian themes,m on its biggest stages such as the Super Bowl.

May God continue to bless A.J. Brown for bucking the trend and using his platform to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Long live the Gospel!
