Full Of Fire: How to tell if you are on fire for Jesus

"How do you know if you're on fire for Jesus? What does being on fire for Jesus really mean?"

If you are the opposite of lazy when serving God plus you exhibit the traits outlined herein then you know you're on fire for Jesus.

It has been said that the height of laziness is a fellow who gets up at five every morning so he can have more time to loaf. The Holy Bible promises no loaves to the loafer.

Here it is straight from the source:

"Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord." (Romans 12:11, ESV)

I truly believe that if heaven is a place to rest, many people are going to be all practiced up for it.

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." (Revelation 3:14-16)

Being on fire for the Lord does not entail relaxing on the beach for the rest of your life in retirement. It is not moping around feeling sorry for your situation. It is not waiting to die while watching the sky.

It is not, however, working yourself to death either. Even God took a day of rest.

Being on fire for Jesus is tantamount to fighting your way from a house that was hit with fiery darts from the enemy while his minions block the door.

You fight the enemy like you're a zealot using the whole armor of God. You boldly fight for your life with every ounce of renewed strength you can muster in your mind, body and spirit while calling on the powerful name of Jesus.

Someone who is on fire for Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit.

You might ask, "How do I know if I am filled with the Holy Spirit?"

The Bible lists these characteristics displayed in those filled with the Holy Ghost:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23, KJV)

Once you are on fire for Jesus then you boldly speak the truth in Jesus' name because the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Truth. Read what the Holy Bible has to say about that:

"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth." (John 16:13, KJV)

A preacher who is on fire for the Lord speaks with bold words the enemies of God do not want to hear: Words that convict them and slice their lies like a two-edged sword slices carnal flesh.

Like the Holy Bible says in Hebrews chapter 4:12:

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Smoke from the fire

Take the new 12 disciples for example.

I mean the 12 after Judas hanged himself after betraying Jesus. Judas who was one of the original 12 was obviously not on fire for the Lord.

But the new 12!?

They were truly on fire for Jesus, especially after the day of Pentecost.

On that day they were gathered in one place. Maybe getting their Great Commission plans together. One of the last commandments Jesus gave them was to go preach the Gospel all over the world.

Maybe they were hiding out because the Jewish leaders and especially people like Saul also known as paul wanted them either dead or in jail.

Jesus had shown Himself alive for 40 days after the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. He had commanded the 12 to remain in Jerusalem until they were baptized with the promised fiery Holy Spirit. (Acts 1-5; Luke 3:16).

The promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on each disciple in the form of fiery tongues.

"When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven." (Act 2:2-4, ESV)

Instantly, the 12's fear if they had any was replaced with supernatural boldness and zeal.

They went out into the streets of Jerusalem and fearlessly preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in front of huge crowds including some of the same Jewish leaders who crucified Christ.

Peter stood up and spoke for the group.

Many thousands were joined to the Church that day: a catalyst for the Great Commission.

People on fire for Jesus walk without fear of the consequences and repercussions that come with representing the Lord.

People who are on fire cannot have their zeal quenched easily. You may douse them with water provided by the powers of darkness, but they will eventually get dry and get lit again.

When people are on fire for Jesus Christ nothing else matters except pleasing Him.
