Fly or False Prophet? Joseph Smith, Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Founder

Writer: Reginald SpannReginald Spann

Is it true that some Mormon congregations are turning to Orthodox Christianity and away from false prophet Joseph Smith?

Writing as a non-Morman, I hope so because Smith was a false prophet destined to the deep fire of hell for establishing the false Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, informally known as either the LDS Church or the Mormon Church.

Why?

True Christians do not have anything to do with Mormonism because it is a deceptive lie started by a false prophet. It is "another gospel" like the Holy Bible teaches its readers to avoid. Mormonism is not the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Smith started his organization in the 1820s and '30s. His story reveals quite a bit of his delusional and anti-Christian precepts.

Typical of false prophets, the Upstate New York-born Smith rarely if ever preached the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ:

That the Lord was crucified, died, buried, resurrected and ascended into Heaven. That the Lord God gifts eternal life to His followers.

He left his followers with a legacy of the hell bound racial philosophy that non-whites, such as African Americans and Indians were cursed with dark skin.

He is Largely the reason that Mormons disallowed Black men to join the Mormon clergy ,until the late 1960’s.

Mormons believe that their “Prophet Joseph Smith” was visited by a mythological angel named Moroni. And that in 1817 Moroni gave Smith engraved golden plates detailing the existence of ancient Israelites in America.

Between the ages of 14 and 15-years-old from 1820 to 1821 Smith claimed to have received two visions from Moroni whose father was a Central American prophet named Mormon. Mormon was supposedly the one who wrote the Book of Mormon – translated by Joseph Smith's scribes including his first wife Emma.

This book is not Holy Scripture, unlike the Holy Bible that is the true Word of God written by His prophets, apostles and disciples.

In 1827, false prophet Smith said he located secret and "divine" golden tables that Moroni had buried near Palmyra, NY. Not coincidentally, comparable, in Smith's doctrine, to the Ten Commandment stone tablets given to Moses by Almighty God on Mount Sinai.

Smith was Ejected from the Methodist Church as a fraud in 1828, at the age of 23 or 24. (Reasons?)

Mormons further believe that Smith and his scribe, Oliver Cowdery, received a glorious angelic visitation from John the Baptist, who bestowed on them the inheritance and continuation of Aaron’s Levitical priesthood.

Nowhere in the Holy Bible is John the Baptist described as being an angel. His dad Zechariah was a Levite priest. (Luke 1:5-17)

But the Levites in Jerusalem did not even know who John the Baptist was, at first, while John was busy paving the way for Jesus's ministry.

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the LORD, as the prophet Isaiah said.” (John 1:23; Matthew 3:3; Isaiah 40:3)

Smith and Oliver also claimed to have received keys associated with the Melchizedek Priesthood. The Holy Bible only mentions one man, Jesus Christ, as a member of the Melchizedek Order. (Hebrews, chapters 5-7)

In 1830, at age 24 or 25, Smith published the self-proclaimed translation of golden plates into the Book of Mormon, and established what became the “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.”

Urim and Thummim

To translate the Book of Mormon, Smith claimed to have used Aaron the High Priest’s ancient Urim and Thummim that were placed in the High Priest’s breastplate before going in the presence of God. (Genesis 28:30)

Urim and Thummim are unidentified objects placed that the High Priest’s leveraged for revelations, decisions, judgments and prophecies from the Lord. (1 Samuel 28:6; Nehemiah 7:65)

Four Books of Scripture

Christians use the Holy Bible. Mormons, meanwhile, use four books of scripture, including a book titled, “Doctrine and Covenants.”

Mormons believed that the “D&C” is a book of scripture containing revelations given to their Prophet Joseph Smith.

The other three Mormon books of scripture are the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price.

Another gospel, is Mormonism, apart from the price paid for our sins by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Long live the Gospel of Christ Jesus.

Polygamy

Many traditional Mormons also practice polygamy or bigamy – a crime in all 50 American states. In 2015, Mormon leaders allegedly admitted for the first time that Joseph Smith took multiple wives – estimated between 25 & 84 in numbers.

Smith’s successor, Brigham Young, allegedly had some 80 wives.

Referred to as “The Prophet” by his sympathizers, from 1832 - Smith allegedly personally experienced several violent incidents such as being tarred, feathered, almost lynched, “warring with locals” and almost left for dead in both the state of Ohio and Jackson County, Missouri.

Smith for President

Smith ran for president of the U.S. in 1844 – declaring that he would be installed as “King on Earth.” He faced a hailstorm of criticism from Mormon defectors and followers, including his first wife, Emma, who abhorred Smith’s polygamy and leadership.

Smith dispatched a militia to Nauvoo, Illinois after allegedly destroying his defectors’ newspaper printing press.

Smith was charged with treason and conspiracy by Illinois authorities and jailed with his brother Hyrum. On June 27, 1844, a mob broke in and murdered the Smith brothers – shooting Joseph Smith dead.

Conclusion

The Mormon Church founder, the false prophet and would be American king, fell into megalomania, adultery and incarceration before being gunned down.

His life is proof that living and being considered a fake Christian church can lead to either depression, psychosis or an “us against the world” determinism.

So, beloved, Mormons should be met with empathy and encouraged to get on the straight and narrow Christian path – spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ - leaving the levy of another gospel.
